Please join us for a screening of The Power to Heal: Medicare and the Civil Rights Revolution, a powerful documentary chronicles the drastic desegregation of American hospitals in the 1960s—a change due in large part to a fledgling program called Medicare.
A panel discussion will follow a 30-minute version of the film. Panelists include filmmaker (and beloved CA PPC member) Barbara Berney, a low-waged healthcare worker and a representative from the PPC Indigenous People's Contingent. The California Nurses Association will present info on the Guaranteed Healthcare for All Act (HB-1400). The event will be closed captioned and ASL interpreted.
